Au Revoir Simone

The gorgeous Au Revoir Simone triplets played a free show at the Canal Room last night. Their shiny hair, sweet crooning, and keyboard expertise charmed the nearly packed club, full of fans psyched to be seeing the ladies in this intimate setting. Despite some moments of miscommunication with the sound guy, ARS preformed enthusiastically and engaged in ditzy and sweetly hilarious banter with the audience. They’re off soon to tour Europe with AIR, so this proved to be an excellent chance to see them in a small venue on their own turf.

One thing that did grind my gears, however, were the exorbitant drink prices. They be chargin’ $9 for a mixed drink up in that. I’ll leave it up for guess as to whether I humbly accepted such a price in appreciation of the show itself being free, or instead spiked the $4 glasses of soda in the bathroom.
