Pop culture with a hangover

Men and their obnoxious insecurities

There’s something so satisfying about watching jock guys who harass gay guys, or, for that matter, third world jerkbags who keep their women locked up inside to protect their precious innocence, squirm when their attempts to control reality prove futile.  These douchenozzles aren’t used to having to prove their value as men, so real sexuality terrifies them.  They find the idea of two men being happy together, or their woman having sexual desires beyond their pathetic bedroom antics, to be threats that must be contained.

When straight dudes talk about gay guys being OK by them as long as they don’t ‘try anything,’ or when they express worry about coexisting with gay guys in the army or on their sports team, or wherever, they always act so defensive.  And you know why?  Because finally, for the first time in their lives, they know what it feels like to be a woman, to be the subject of the male gaze, however deluded these straight guys are in thinking gay guys really want to screw them.  Men usually don’t have to worry about things like walking down a dark empty street, but gay men change all that for them.

Argh.

If only more people could just politely say no and go back to drinking (or, for that matter, accept it when other people say ‘no’), think how much better things would be.

A friend of mine brought me to a bar where this really drunk guy came onto me and was trying to make out with me, I can totally understand why a lot of women would just rather not be kissed most of the time, it was a pretty gross moment, all I could think to say was just … no.

Then I went back to drinking my gin and watching the show.
