The Top 10 Movie Stalkers
Ah, obsession. It’s a perennial theme when it comes to movies, and why not? It’s a handy plot device, it lends dramatic weight, and it allows actors an opportunity to put their “crazy” faces to good use. Here is a list of the ten best stalkers in filmdom.
10. Max Cady (Cape Fear, played by Robert DeNiro)

9. Ivy (Poison Ivy, played by Drew Barrymore)

8. Detective John ‘Scottie’ Ferguson (Vertigo, played by James Stewart)

7. Hedra ‘Hedy’ Carlson (Single White Female, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh)

6. Adrienne Forrester (The Crush, played by Alicia Silverstone)
5. Rupert Pupkin (The King of Comedy, played by Robert DeNiro)

4. Peyton Flanders (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, played by Rebecca De Mornay)

3. Tom Ripley (The Talented Mr. Ripley, played by Matt Damon)

2. Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver, Robert DeNiro)

1. Alex Forrest (Fatal Attraction, played by Glenn Close)

Whoa, I totally didn’t connect Ian McShane and Sexy Beast, but now I remember him in it clearly. We have vertically stacked movie theaters here too. It’s the only way!
I caught Gangster Number One in the wacky London vertically stacked movie theaters. It contains the best first-person torture/murder scene you’ll likely see anywhere. Oh, and the best psychotic elevator scream anywhere.
When Ian McShane was on The Daily Show promoting “Kings” he casually mentioned he had just finished shooting the follow-up to “Sexy Beast”. Weird!
Oh shit good calls, I completely forgot about One Hour Photo. Ben Kingsley was pretty stalky, and that movie ruled. I haven’t seen Gangster #1.

Nice call on Vertigo.
The straight pick: Robin Williams in One Hour Photo.
The twist pick: Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast.
The “Even More Obscure and British than Sexy Beast” pick: Paul Bettany in Gangster Number One.
Funny how three of these are played by DeNiro…
