Cocktail hour: A tropical summer drink recipe

tiki-drink-costume

Now, I am by no means a professional mixologist, or even an amateur bartender, but as Liz can attest, I’ve had my share of drinks. And I love experimenting with new ingredients, especially flavored booze. I haven’t gotten around to trying bacon vodka yet, but you dear readers will be the first to know when I do.

So in the meantime, here’s a recipe that includes the new ABSOLUT Mango, a vodka with a lot of mixing-and-matching potential. This is the perfect summer drink, and since the flavors remind me of the tropical fruits and shakes in my neighborhood, I’ve named it after Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Enjoy!

The Sunset Park

2 oz ABSOLUT Mango vodka

½ oz Lime juice (fresh or Rose’s)

1 oz pineapple juice

Splash of soda

1 Tsp simple syrup or sugar

Ice cubes

Lime wedge (garnish)

Combine the mango vodka, lime and pineapple juices, and simple syrup or sugar in a shaker along with one or two ice cubes. Stir or shake thoroughly and pour over ice, topping with a splash of soda. Garnish with lime wedge or a twist of lime peel.
